Johannesburg – Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) is proud to announce the appointment of two new brand ambassadors: celebrated South African rugby player, Teboho “Oupa” Mohoje and award-winning comedian and broadcaster, Rory Petzer.
These exciting partnerships reflect Toyota’s ongoing commitment to celebrating South African excellence, resilience and authenticity. Mohoje and Petzer exemplify Toyota’s core values - reliability, innovation and a strong sense of community, making them ideal representatives of the brand.
“Oupa and Rory embody Toyota’s mission to move South Africa forward with purpose, passion and pride. They represent the spirit of our country - strong, vibrant and full of heart. Their stories resonate with our brand’s journey and our customers’ lives. We’re thrilled to welcome them to the Toyota family,” said Tasneem Lorgat, General Manager of Marketing Communications at Toyota South Africa Motors.
As a long-standing figure in South African rugby, Mohoje has inspired fans with his leadership, perseverance and passion for the game. His journey from grassroots rugby to national representation mirrors Toyota’s own path of growth and excellence. Mohoje’s ambassadorship aligns with Toyota's investment in grassroots rugby through the Toyota Cheetahs Academy at which he is the head coach.
Commenting on his appointment, Mohoje said, “Toyota has been a part of my rugby journey from the very beginning. Having spent over a decade with the Toyota Cheetahs, this partnership feels like a natural extension of my story. A story built on loyalty, performance and community. I’ve seen firsthand how Toyota’s commitment to excellence and innovation inspires both players and supporters. I’m proud to continue representing a brand that stands for quality, resilience and progress - values that I align with deeply.”
Known for his sharp wit and relatable humour, Petzer brings a fresh and engaging voice to the brand. His ability to connect with audiences across platforms makes him a good fit for Toyota’s evolving digital and lifestyle initiatives. Petzer added, "This partnership just feels right! Toyota is part of so many South African stories and I’m proud to be part of that legacy. I can’t wait to bring my own twist to the journey - a mix of laughter, local flavour and real connection - with a brand that’s as authentic as the people it represents.”
Mohoje and Petzer will champion Toyota’s values across various campaigns, events and digital platforms. The duo will use their platforms to uplift and advocate for South Africa - something that Toyota South Africa Motors is a proud supporter of. As part of their ambassadorship, Mohoje will be driving the Toyota Fortuner, while Petzer will take the wheel of the Hilux DC Legend 55 - vehicles that reflect their dynamic personalities and lifestyles.
