Johannesburg - Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) has reaffirmed its commitment to supplier development and localisation by sponsoring exhibition stands for six of its Black-Owned suppliers at the 2025 National Association of Automotive Component and Allied Manufacturers (NAACAM) Show.
The 2025 NAACAM show - South Africa’s premier automotive manufacturing and component expo is taking place in Gqeberha from the 12th to 15th August. The Show serves as a critical platform to showcase innovation, advance localisation efforts and foster meaningful dialogue between Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), component manufacturers, government, and industry stakeholders.
For the six TSAM-supported suppliers, this event represents more than just visibility, it is a launchpad for growth, credibility, and access to market opportunities. This sponsorship will enable the suppliers to exhibit their products and services, share their stories and engage with potential customers and collaborators from across the automotive sector.
Commenting on the initiative, CEO and President of Toyota South Africa Motors, Andrew Kirby said: “Toyota South Africa Motors’ investment into the local supply chain reflects our commitment to strengthening our national capabilities, contribute to economic growth and job creation. The decision to sponsor six of our local suppliers aligns with our broader transformation and localisation goals. We believe in creating and supporting platforms where emerging businesses can be seen, heard, and considered as strategic partners in South Africa’s automotive future.”
The six suppliers represent a diverse set of manufacturing capabilities, from automotive printed circuit boards and pressed metal components to industrial cleaning and logistics solutions. All are either direct (Tier 1) or indirect (Tier 2/3) suppliers to Toyota’s Prospecton Plant in Durban.
While each supplier has a unique value proposition, they share one thing in common – participation in TSAM’s hands-on supplier development approach which includes equipment support, technical training and operational readiness for the demands of OEM production environments.
Driving the Vision of the Automotive Masterplan 2035
TSAM’s efforts are closely aligned with the objectives of South Africa’s Automotive Masterplan 2035, which targets increased local content, transformation and competitiveness in the sector. By elevating Small, Medium, and Micro-Enterprises (SMMEs) and helping them grow, TSAM is not only strengthening its own supply chain but also contributing to national economic development.
As the industry evolves in response to global trends like electrification and sustainability, TSAM remains committed to building a resilient and inclusive supply base. “This initiative reflects our continued commitment to building an inclusive and competitive automotive supply chain in South Africa. With continued partnerships, strategic sponsorships and hands-on development support, Toyota South Africa Motors is creating pathways for more local suppliers to thrive - not just within its own operations, but across the entire automotive value chain,” concluded Kirby.
