Toyota SA & Owl Rescue Inspire Young Minds

Johannesburg – Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) is excited to support its long-time conservation partner, Owl Rescue Centre’s literacy project. TSAM’s support of the literacy project entails a generous book printing sponsorship of 1,000 copies of “Wild Adventures with Lazzy the Otter” by Danelle Murray, co-founder of the Owl Rescue Centre.

Aimed at inspiring the next generation of conservationists, the literacy project forms part of the Centre’s school outreach initiative. Through the distribution of books to school libraries and disadvantaged communities, the project aims to develop young minds and promote environmental education and conservation awareness among young learners.

Commenting on the literacy project, Tasneem Lorgat, General Manager for Marketing Communications at TSAM said, “Toyota South Africa Motors’ support underscores our commitment to Corporate Citizenship and environmental stewardship. We are proud to partner with Owl Rescue Centre on this literacy initiative as it aligns with our values of sustainability and community upliftment. Empowering young minds through storytelling is a powerful way to drive change.”

The book, which follows the charming escapades of Lazzy the Otter, introduces children to the beauty of South Africa’s wildlife and the importance of protecting it. With engaging storytelling and vivid illustrations, the book is designed to spark curiosity and foster a lifelong love for nature.

“We believe education is the cornerstone of conservation. The impact of this sponsorship by Toyota South Africa Motors extends far beyond the pages of a book. For children in underprivileged communities, access to engaging educational resources can be limited. These 1000 copies represent not just reading material, but an opportunity to learn, to dream, and to connect with the natural world that surrounds them – a world that often faces threats they will one day inherit,” said Danelle Murray, author and co-Founder of Owl Rescue Centre.

The Owl Rescue Centre, known for its tireless work in wildlife rehabilitation and education, continues to innovate in its outreach efforts. This book sponsorship marks a significant milestone in their mission to make conservation accessible and engaging for all South Africans.
