HINO 700

Heavy duty hauler

HINO 700

Versatile and efficient, the Hino 700 plays an important heavy-duty role in a wide variety of industries.

Available in 4x2, 6x4 and 8x4 versions making up 13 options, it can be fitted with the appropriate body to tackle just about any job, from tipper to freight carrier, to mixer and truck tractor, double to single sleeper cab. The Hino 700 is the heaviest vehicle built by Hino, topping off the local range that is made up of the Dyna, Hino 300 and Hino 500.

Styling is similar to that of the smaller 500 series, save for an impressive chrome grille split into three segments. This large grille allows the efficient cooling of the large and powerful engines: a 13-litre diesel unit that feature both a turbocharger and intercooler. The engine is available in vary states of tune, model dependent, and produces between 279kW and 353kW along with 1814Nm and 2157Nm at low revs of just 1100rpm.

In designing the Hino 700 Toyota focussed on what is most important to truck drivers and operators: safety, comfort and efficiency.

Safety is taken care of by ABS braking, which is standard on the 700 series, with an automatic slack adjustment system that helps to prevent downtime; an SRS airbag for the driver, a shock-absorbing and collapsing steering column, and side-impact beams in the doors to protect occupants.

Comfort is not a luxury but a necessity – it keeps drivers focussed and alert by reducing fatigue. Optional air suspension plays a big part in this comfort, as does a fully adjustable and ergonomic seat, a steering column that is adjustable for tilt and reach, and the automatic gearbox. The sleeping cabs are also particularly comfortable, so important on long trips.

The automatic gearbox is a 16-speed ZF ASTRONIC transmission, highly regarded in the industry and known for ease of use, efficiency and reliability. It can be operated either in fully automatic mode where it will prioritise efficiency, or it can be driven in semi-automatic mode where the driver selects gears without having to worry about operating a clutch.

Importantly, Hino has one of the largest footprints of any commercial vehicle brand in SA including a number of exclusive truck dealerships.

The Hino 700 Series has a 24-month/unlimited kilometre warranty and a 36-month rust perforation warranty, while an extended warranty of up to five years is available. There is also a 2-year warranty on all Hino parts fitted at a Hino dealership, as well as comprehensive 24-hour roadside assistance plan.
