Toyota Wins

Another major award for Toyota South Africa Motors

Toyota Wins

Toyota South Africa Motors has won another coveted award, this time the title of Car Magazine’s Company of the Year.

Toyota’s victory was put down to a number of factors. The first was the simple weight of numbers that Toyota achieves in South Africa. “Approximately every fourth new vehicle – of the 536 626 registered locally in 2019 – wore a Toyota, Lexus or Hino badge,” the Car Team pointed out.

Then there were the massive investments that Toyota has made in the South African economy recently. TSAM made a cumulative investment of R4,28 billion (between 2019 and 2021) into the local automotive industry, a portion of which was earmarked for the production of the new-generation Corolla Quest, which itself was announced a winner by Car Magazine. It was named the 2020 CAR Best Buy in the midsize vehicle category for its combination of incredible value for money, peerless reliability and comfort.

Another contributing reason for Toyota’s award was that with the turn of the decade the company achieved 40 years of consecutive local market leadership.

Car magazine concluded the award by saying, “With an even deeper investment into South Africa, continued market leadership and a line-up that mixes much-needed utility with growing levels of excitement, Toyota is the worthy winner of our 2020 award.”
